What transpires when a friendship goes sour do the following lyrics to the song "Friends" still hold water?

"And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands, we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends."

Not long ago eleven plus year friendship seems to have crashed and burned.

So what transpires now?

Experience dictates the following;

#1. Learn from the experience and friendship. The longer the years as friends the better the memories.

#2. Move Onward.  People come in and out if our lives and there is a reason for such. Even friendships that last over twenty years cease and we are left wondering why.

#3. Forgiveness. Forgiveness is vital to our health its a principle even laid out in Gods Word. Even if it seems as if s/he has done you wrong forgive and move onward.

#4. Holding grudges? If a person of any age it gender holds a grudge several medical aspects transpire, and those things in itself are far from being kind.

#5. Legal aspects of faltering friendships. In Gods Word in First Corinthians chapter six verses one through eleven, we read that  such actions are not advised.

#6. Watch and pray. Those three words speak volumes all by themselves. Watch what and who you say things to as it can or could have its own set of problems. Having a third friend perhaps as a strong middleman is and it might be a plus for both sides.

A good point can be found in the feud between Saul and David. It was Sauls own son who always seemed to barter peace agreements.

#7. Be at peace.
When one is angry with you to stay at peace with yourself and with God. Listen for a moment what Gods own Word says about anger,

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  Neither give place to the devil."

#8. Move onward. Sometimes its best to "let go and let God" as the old saying goes.

With that all said its time to say farewell for now. Remember these words of the song mentioned above.
"And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them."
