Alone?

Do you remember the movie Home Alone?
Well for single people thats what Christians is like for million of single people. They sit at home on Christmas day perhaps eating a simple tv dinner while watching either some movie or watching a sporting event. What about family members? Well if you have family they might invite you over for a home cooked meal. However, if your the last one in the family Christmas can be  an welcomed guest.
The latter aspect is true for this writer. So, every Christmas its a simple microwaveable tv dinner and a little time for a movie from the DVD collection. And forget the Mincemeat Pie not one grocery store sells them. So my favorite pie and ice cream go by the wayside like other traditions.

How can you help?

#1.    Adoption:  thats right adopt a single person for the holidays. treat him like family.
#2.   Gift Givingfind out what he or she likes and make an effort to give them a few gifts, Some people might even make a Christmas Wish list right over there on Amazon
#3.    Food: NO person should spend the holidays alone even at meal time. If you treat him or her like family find out what foods s/he likes such as does he or she like apple pies, cherry pies or maybe even mince meat pies. Maybe a person likes ham instead of turkey. Taking someone out to a restaurant does not count as it make the person feel like an outsider!
#4.   Games & TV  if your family plays games then be sure to invite him or her to play. If your family watches a sporting even invite them to watch with you.

Church idea: perhaps in October your church could have a Adoption Day. A family adopts a known single person for the holidays where all of the above could be put into play.

Remember to treat him or her like family.

What A Shame

Lets begin with this important statement:
People who have not taken at least one course about computers. Well, should be required to do so BEFORE allowed to purchase any of the following; cellphone, smartphone, phablet, tablet, laptop and even a desktop computer. Why? Because they all as known as computers and they take a little getting used to.

As for me? I took my course long before Microsoft brought out Windows, Hotmail, Internet Explorer and so forth and so on.
In fact in order to get from point A to point B you needed to know DOS and know it pretty well.
In fact the first few versions easily was built on the backbone of DOS. In fact Windows 10 has to have DOS working in it some place. Dont believe me? Open up Command Prompt and you will be looking at DOS. DOS stands for Disk Operating System.

So why the lessson?

I have seen grown men up in years purchase a cell phone and they have zero idea what they have, how to use it and even how to turn it off and on. And they they stand in the middle of an isle in a store and become frustrated and angry at a piece of machinery.
A week later? They are about as bad as when they got the cellphone. I have seen a grown man nearly throw his cell phone in the trash because he was so frustrated.

Some other things:

A. Not knowing what a browser and portals are.

B. What and where to go to recieve their email.

C. That they have to cancel Yahoo ot Hotmail accounts because they change ISPs.

D. They have zero knowledge what ISP stands for. In some brains they think Yahoo is an ISP.

The above is just a few things i have seen, heard about or witnessed.
And to boot; when you try to teach them they become verbally combative.

The point is as follows:

#1. Before you buy someone a cellphone do a little educating.

#2. All the above mentioned tools are just that. An item that can get you the information you need in only seconds.

#3. If a friend spends time doing maintance on your computer to "speed it up" or as they also say "clean it up" be kind enough to give them monentary funding. After all if you took it to a store they might charge you two or three hundred dollars. My going rate is usually $45 per hour plus $50 traveling fee. If work is done in 1 1/2 hours it works out to two hours.

Please remember the following:

Computers have sensitive componts inside. Its not your automobile where a few good whacks and its fixed. In fact a few good whacks on a computer could kill it.

Footnote:
TOPIC: Did you know?

Sometimes there is free software or a game hidden on the software you bought. But in order to locate it you need to know how to open the disk. And this you do by.....oh you thought I was going to tell you how? Shame on you!
Truly, once in a while there is free software on a piece of siftware or pc game you just bought.

Peace out✌

Which one of the following is no longer in use on most computers today?  💾💽📀💿

When Things Go Wrong

Sometimes, just sometimes, when something goes terribly wrong what do you do?

Sometimes you throw up your hands and give up, but giving up just is not an answer.
Other times you take a deep breath and attempt to press onward to that certain goal.
Then there are times, speaking about computers here, you just wish that the "Blue screen of death" would appear and end it all.

Recently my Asus G60 laptop took a turn for the worse. Yes it started up. Which meant there was still life in the Beast. However, IE 11 would not startup. I could not even download Firefox or Google Chrome. For all intents I was dead in the water with no one to save the Beast.
However, there was one hope and it was a long shot. That hope is called experience. Of all the years I've spent with computers I remembered that there are shortcuts.

To make a long story short:
Yes I restored the Beast. And yes it is running again. Maybe not with Windows seven, but its up and running
(BTW #Asus I really need a link to where I can upgrade my G60's operating system. Reason? My CDR/DVD player does not work.
Thus the need for the link, please.)

Sometimes, life does throw us a curve ball. But its what we do afterwards that matters most.
To give up simply is a cowards way out of a problem.
However, to "press on to the mark" is the sign of a person willing and wanting to win.

Footnote:
Since Thunderdome Ministries does not have the funding to repair the Asus G60 perhaps a miracle could transpire, yes?

The laptop needs the following:
1.  A new keyboard
2.  Repairs/replacement for the CDR/DVD player
3.  Interior cleaning

If you can assist with repairs it would be greatly appreciated.

Or you can send a **"love gift" to the following

Thunderdome Ministries Network Inc.
David Liebler, Founder
3513 Clairmont Street
Flint MI 48503-6602

**Please note that the ministry is NOT  401c3  and all "live gifts" are not a tax deduction.
