Are you human?
Do you have a certain number of DNA that makes you human?
IF you answered yes to the aobve then you are ready for the following, provided you have a soul.
You do have a soul right?
Just checking.
From the begining of time humans have, for the most part had two arms, legs, ears, teeth and eyes. All of course for a set reason.
Somewhere along the line, after the sin nature took over things changed and you can find those things mostly in the New Testament. The very mere mention of someone being blind or lame somehow "makes our skin crawl" as I once heard it put. But make no mistake about it some humans do have disabilities. Some of which transpired at birth others happened on the job or worse. No matter how those disabilities transpired the person is, well still loved by God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit otherwise known as the trinity.
But something has gone haywire within the very walls of Gods House. Those that God came to set free are frankly and seemingly not quite welcome. While they may not be asked to leave the church they are often given the "cold shoulder" and they leave seeking refuge elseware. In the mean time society too has given them the polite cold shoulder if you will. WHile I could endulge further in this aspect let me, if you pleae get to the point.
Many who live on a fixed income are either disabled or on Social Security. For both making ends meet is in isteself a challenge. Often it comes down to car repares or food. Food or heat in the winter. Medication or a loaf of bread. Is ome cases the car does not get repaired and people have to rely on the kindness of others to do even the simply tasks like grocery shopping or getting their medication at the drug store.
Here is YOUR challenge;
If you have the funds in your savings/checking account split it in half.
Keep one half for yourself and give the other half to someone who is disabiled.
Do not give the person a check or money order! Instead put it in an envelope and deliver it yourself to the person or persons who are in dire need.
Do you know a disabled person who needs to get caught up on his/her bills? Help them!
Do you know someone who needs extensive auto repairs? Help them!
Do you know someone whose disabled who might like a night out on the town or enjoy a shopping spree? Well help them?
Know someone going through such hard times that they need a car? Or help with his or her home? Well help them!
Want to do the car repairs yourself? Well help them?
Your challenge between now and Thanksgiving is to help at least one person who is legally classified as disabled. That car or stove you fix could mean a great deal. That shopping spree for new cloths may put a smile on someones face. That person you took to a Krogers or Meijers groceries store to buy food will put a smile on their face.
I am not asking you to empty out your bank account! God forbid.
I am not asking you to go into bankruptcy!
All I am doing is issuing a challenge for you to help someone in the here and now. Demonstrate that you know that God came to save not just the well but the sick too.
NOW. that the challenge has been put forth the questions now becomes this?
Will you accept the challenge? How soon can and will you start? Will it get done before Thanksgiving?
If your taking up the challenge tell someone you know. Maybe they are willing to take up the challenge.
Footnotes
#1. IF you are a car dealership and will do the repairs be sure you inform the person(s) that you are taking the car. Be willing to pay also for the towing and return delivery. And of course do all repairs properly the first time.
#2. IF your giving the person food. Do not give them stuff thats due to expire in the next few days or weeks. Be sure it expires at least within 3-12 months. Any food item thats going to expire in a few days is nearly useless.
