There is a Christian song with the following phrase, " They will know we are Christians by our love....." Today the song lies amongst the others that simply, excuse the expression, made it to some basement of Gospel songs.
But what does that phrase mean and is it still relivent in today's heated society?
#1. The phrase comes from a couple Biblical references.
1a. Faith without works
1b. In the book of Acts it talks about the early church and what took place.
So, Christians are meant to demonstrate the love of God through various tasks that God leads one to take part in.
2. Examples can range to a little thing to the much larger.
2a. Helping the disabled
2b. Helping the homeless. Sadly I have heard and seen ministries turn away the homeless because of Section 8 ruling and that s/he was a felon. But God turns no one away!
So how can you be a Christian ministry if you refuse to help what Jesus called, "The least of these...?"
2c. Helping the hungry. This could mean buying him/her a meal at a restaurant or stocking their shelves
2d. Helping someone with their home. This could mean repairing or replacing a roof or repairing siding to taking out the trash.
3. One thing I hear from heaven about is discrimination amounts churches or other Christians in a loose term. Examples that I witness;
3a. A church goer leaves church A and attends church B. In time you would witness not one person from church A will talking to the person who left the church.
3b. Discrimination due to ones appearance.
3c. Now your not going to believe this but I have seen and heard the following myself: off handed bullying and manipulation.
3d. Church asking Christians to leave the church for no other reason as they did not like a persons appearance. Yet s/he had been spiritually mentors and taught godly things.
"They will know us by our love?" Really?
You will never hear about the above happening because its often brushed under the rug. But God sees and knows everything. And from what I've heart from the throne, the very God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is sad indeed. While God is no respector of persons the church sure is. So where has the love gone
This I can report directlybfrom heaven: God, the very Alpha and Omega, continues to love and care for those on this planet we call Earth. Simply put in Earthly terms: Those in the faith and knowledge of Jesus needs to demonstrate Gods unconditional love AND mercies.
Because if YOU can not demonstrate Ephesians 2:4 then you have no business calling your charity a Christian Organization or a church with some Biblical typed name. Thus Christians around the globe: you need to #1 repent #2 return to your first love #3Learn the lessons from the first church.
